Root Canal Therapy

Insurance not necessary, most insurance plans accepted

What is root canal treatment?

When the nerve inside the tooth becomes infected, it can cause a lot of pain. If left untreated the bacteria or decaying material can form a tooth abscess as well as other complications such as bone loss.

Such infection or abscess can be treated with an extraction resulting in a tooth loss. The 2nd option is a root canal therapy that is a procedure to preserve a tooth and prevent a dental extraction.

To perform the procedure, the damaged tooth is left in place within the gum line while the infection in the canal inside the tooth root is thoroughly cleaned by small files and filled with a rubber-like material that seals the canals. Two or more visits may be necessary if the infection is not resolved. Placing a crown on the damaged tooth completes the procedure.

Why is a crown necessary for root canal treatment?

Teeth that undergo a root canal therapy are no longer vital and become brittle. If a crown is not placed to reinforce the tooth structure, it may fracture and the tooth will be lost.

Trauma Management

Dental trauma is a result of sports, automobile accidents, slip & falls or other unexpected personal injuries. Any dental injury, even if apparently mild, requires an immediate examination by a dentist. Neighboring teeth may suffer an additional, unnoticed injury that can only be detected by a thorough dental exam.

With any traumatic dental injury time is of the essence. Contact MyDental immediately.

Emergency Care FAQ

After emergency or surgical care, we send any prescriptions straight to your pharmacy – and for our self-pay patients, we help find the lowest price on those medications (including through discount tools like GoodRx) so relief does not come with a surprise bill.

Do you perform root canals?

If you come to us with tooth pain, we start by finding the cause and
relieving it right away — often the same day. When a tooth needs root canal
therapy, we coordinate your care with a trusted endodontist (a root canal
specialist) and then bring you back to MyDental to restore the tooth with a
custom crown. So your treatment starts and finishes with us: we handle the
pain and the final restoration, and partner with a specialist for the root
canal itself.

I had a root canal — do I need a crown?

In most cases, yes. A tooth treated with a root canal becomes more brittle
and needs a crown to protect it from cracking. Dr. Shurova places custom,
natural-looking crowns at MyDental to restore your tooth’s full strength and
appearance after a root canal.
