OVER 15 YEARS EXPERIENCE

A Note from Dr. Marina Shurova, DDS

I’ve cared for patients who drive up from Tampa for years, and I always think it’s worth being honest about why, because they pass a lot of dental offices to get here. Two reasons come up again and again. The first is cost — we’re a small, owner-run practice, and our patients tell us the drive pays for itself. You’ll know what treatment costs before it begins. The second is that you see me every visit. I treat every patient in this practice myself. One of my patients called it the way medical care used to be. I think that’s exactly right.

Dr. Shurova, DDS

Owner of MyDental

A good number of our patients drive up from Tampa, past plenty of other dental offices, to get here. The reasons they give are consistent: you know what treatment costs before it begins, and you see Dr. Marina Shurova herself every visit. We are a single-doctor, private practice — no rotating roster, no corporate call center. A cleaning, a same-day toothache visit, or dental implants all happen in one office, with one dentist, start to finish.

Please Provide Your Name

Transparent Pricing, With or Without Insurance

We welcome self-pay patients. No insurance is required, and financing and payment plans are available if treatment needs to be spread out. You are given your cost in advance, and larger treatment can be phased over time if that suits you better. We are out of network, and we file claims on your behalf. What we will not do is start work and tell you the number afterwards. You can read more on our self-pay page.

Everything in One Place

Most patients who come to us from Tampa are tired of being sent between offices for one course of treatment. We provide general and preventive care, crowns, bridges and dentures, dental implants including full-arch cases, bone grafting, extractions and wisdom teeth removal, braces, TMJ treatment, cosmetic dentistry including veneers and whitening, Botox and dermal fillers, oral sedation, and emergency care.

Root canals we refer to an endodontist. We tell you that plainly rather than treat something another dentist is better placed to handle, and you come back to us for the crown afterwards.

Dr. Shurova earned her DDS at Columbia University and completed a hospital residency at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, a Level I trauma center. Surgery, implants and orthodontic treatment are planned and carried out by her.

About Tampa, FL

Tampa sits on Florida’s west coast, right along Tampa Bay. It’s got a lively vibe, thanks to its mix of cultures, booming economy, and deep history. You get the best of both worlds here: the energy of a modern city and the calm of Florida’s waterways and parks. It’s a big draw for people looking for work, education, or just a good time—locals, tourists, business owners, you name it.

History and Heritage

History runs deep in Tampa. Native American tribes lived here first, then came the Spanish explorers and early settlers. Walk around Ybor City and you’ll see reminders of the past—old buildings, brick streets, and lots of cultural landmarks. Ybor used to be famous for cigars, but nowadays it’s packed with restaurants, bars, and festivals that highlight Tampa’s mix of traditions. Museums, annual celebrations, and preserved spots all help carry the city’s story forward, blending old and new. Come and visit this place in Florida too.

Economy and Employment

Jobs are everywhere. Finance, healthcare, tech, tourism, shipping—Tampa keeps moving. The Port of Tampa connects the city to markets near and far, and downtown is loaded with company headquarters and business centers. It’s a big reason the city keeps growing and attracting new talent.

Parks, Water, and the Outdoors

Nature’s a big deal here, too. Parks, nature areas, and waterfront spaces mean you can go boating, fishing, hiking, or just watch wildlife. The Tampa Riverwalk winds along the Hillsborough River, linking everything from museums to restaurants, and it’s always buzzing with activity. Plus, it’s a quick trip out to the Gulf Coast beaches—great for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports.

Education and Culture

Education and culture matter in Tampa. Schools and universities, including the University of South Florida, draw students from all over. Art museums, performing arts centers, photo galleries—they all make life richer for residents. And the city throws all sorts of festivals for food, music, and heritage, showing off its wide mix of backgrounds.

Sports, Attractions, and Food

Sports fans are right at home here. Tampa hosts pro teams in football, hockey, and baseball—games are a big deal. The city also boasts theme parks, zoos, and interactive attractions, so there’s plenty to do with family or friends. And the food? A blend of seafood, Latin flavors, and everything in between, a reflection of the city’s diversity.

Why Tampa Thrives

In the end, Tampa balances city living with culture and nature. People come here for the jobs, stay for the beaches, and get pulled into the city’s energy and history. Whether you’re strolling through historic neighborhoods, spending a day on the water, checking out cultural events, or just living life, Tampa has a way of making everyone feel welcome and alive. It’s got the spirit that makes Florida shine. If you are seeking for a dentist, click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really worth driving up from Tampa?

Our Tampa patients think so, and cost is usually the first reason they give. We are a small owner-run practice, you are quoted before treatment starts, and self-pay patients are genuinely welcome rather than tolerated. The second reason is that you see the same dentist every visit.

Do I need insurance to be seen?

No. We welcome self-pay patients, and financing and payment plans are available. We are out of network, and we file claims for patients who do have insurance.

Will I see Dr. Shurova herself?

Yes. MyDental is a single-dentist practice, and Dr. Shurova treats every patient.

I have a dental emergency today. Can you see me?

Call 813-908-3636. We offer same-day appointments whenever scheduling allows, and weekend emergencies by appointment — toothache, swelling, a broken tooth, a crown that has come off, or a tooth knocked out.

Do you treat children as well as adults?

Yes, and we see whole families, often on the same day.

Do you offer sedation?

Yes, oral sedation is available for patients who find dental treatment difficult.
